Having lost my left lower leg 6 years ago I found it immensely frustrating to get the prosthetists to understand my aim.
I then decided with the help of my amazing wife to set up our own business (Walk sure Ltd) so I could help other leg amputees to have a better quality of life.
I have designed carbon fibre products that are easy to use and yet make an absolute massive difference in the way I walk, thus giving me a much better quality of life throughout.
I also provide advice to new leg amputees to help them fulfill their potential.

Here’s the story of how I got my prosthetic leg and the journey that led me to invent the Carbon Fibre Insert.
Meeting Andy Reid MBE
In October 2009, Corporal Andy Reid MBE was blown up by a Taliban improvised explosive device while on patrol in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
Injured so badly that it was thought he would not survive, he defied the odds to the extent that, within a month, he was able to meet up with members of his patrol again.
What he has achieved since then is little short of unbelievable.

The Problem That Sparked a Solution
Through careful self-observation and discussions with prosthetic experts, it became clear that the issue was due to the short keel design of the prosthetic foot, limiting its ability to replicate a full, natural stride. A long-keel foot would help — but switching entire prosthetic legs just to go for a walk wasn’t practical, and risked injury.
This sparked an idea: What if there was a way to enhance stride without changing the prosthetic leg?
From Workshop to Walkway
The first prototype was a simple plywood insert, hand-cut using a coping saw. It snapped after just a few steps — but those few steps were a revelation.
Next came a steel version: strong, but far too heavy. It created an unnatural pendulum effect, making the prosthetic leg feel unstable.
Then came the breakthrough: carbon fibre — a material as strong as steel but incredibly light. A custom insert was created in partnership with a specialist in Norwich, and for the first time, it enabled a full, natural stride. That very same insert is still in use five years later.
A Simple Solution That Works
The carbon fibre insert not only supports proper heel-on toe-off motion but also mimics the function of the Achilles tendon — something every leg amputee loses with their limb. The result is an insert that improves balance, comfort, and confidence with every step.
One experienced prosthetist described it as:
